Anthropologie Inspired crochet pillow – Free pattern

Hiii Everyone Am really excited to share this Anthropologie inspired crochet pillow with you!!! this pattern have been featured on Bella Coco Crochet blog for almost a year! and since I will be featured again there with a new design in a few weeks. I thought it is the time to share this pattern here on my blog too!

But Before you go to check the pattern let me remind you that this pattern is part of bigger project that I have been preparing for a while.

I have always had a minimalist style bedroom that has few colors and/or textures and I loved it: However as human beings our preferences change RIGHT? So I decided to make a room makeover (using mainly crochet and a few DIYs) to add a pop of color and some texture to my room and what is a better way to do this than crochet and pillows!! and talking about texture! what is a better place to get inspired than Anthropologie!

I have been eyeing those beautiful Anthropologie long pillows since I started this room makeover pattern series. And when I knew about the guest blogger application on Bella Coco Crochet.  I decided to create my crochet version of it to be published there. And by the way this is the last pattern in this room makeover series! If you are Interested to see the rest of the patterns plus the before and after pictures of the room CHECK IT HERE!

Abbreviations and Glossary (US Terms):

Chain (ch): Yarn over, pull through one loop on hook

Single Crochet (sc): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull through two loops (2 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through both loops.

Bobble Stitch (bo): Yarn over, insert hook into the next stitch and pull up a loop. Yarn over, pull through two loops as if you are doing the first part of a double crochet (DC) (2 loops on the hook); repeat it until you have 5 HDC on your hook and 1 initial loop (total 6 loops on the hook); yarn over and pull through all 6 loops (1 loop on the hook – pull pretty tight, so your bobble really pops up)

Mini Bobble Stitch (mini bo): Yarn over, insert your hook into the next stitch, pull yarn through two loops as if you are doing the first part of a double crochet (DC) (2 loops on the hook); repeat one more time so that you have 2 HDC on your hook and 1 initial loop (total 3 loops on the hook); yarn over and pull through all 3 loops.

Notes:

  • The pattern is written in US terms
  • Make sure to keep the count of 55 stitches per row through out this pattern
  • Pictured is one pillow with two different faces. But you can simply make one face of your choice whether its the solid colour or the multi-coloured one and simply make a plain back. (see the back section below)
  • Ch 1 does NOT count as a st throughout this pattern

Pin it for later!

Row 141-143. Sc across, Ch 1, turn (55)

Back:

Now for the back you have two options

Option 1:

Chain 56

Sc in 2nd chain from the hook and across, Ch 1, turn (55)

Row 2-143:  Sc across, Ch 1, turn (55)

Option 2: (The one I went for)

Repeat the front pattern but with one colour and you will have a double face pillow!

Finishing:

Work one last row of sc along the long edges of your two rectangular pieces (work one sc in each row).

Seaming: Holding two panels together with right sides facing out, Single crochet the two pieces together (as you see in this video). Take care to match up panels’ sts and rows when stitching together. After you’ve stitched around 3 sides, insert pillow form and continue with the 4th side.

Make 10 tassels and attach 5 to each side.

I hope I inspired you to make something beautiful as you! If you made it, share it with me on Instagram. I would love to see how you adapted it and what variations you made 🙂

Take care and happy crocheting.

Hi, this is a beautiful pillow pattern. I wanted to make it for roughly 22 x 11 inch pillow. Any suggestions on how to adjust the size of your pattern to my size pillow. Thanks

    1. nihal salem

HIiii, thank you so much! I would suggest that interms of making it 22″ you may decrease the number of rows between the diamonds in the middle and the zigzags at the sides, also you may do from row 1-12 and skip form row 12-20, and so the same on the opposite side so skip from row 124-131 . to make it 11″ you may look at the chart and start from chain 2-53 but this will make you unable to do the last bobble stitch on each of the diamonds at the sides but it won’t make a huge difference in my opinion. hope this comment help and if you need any further help plzz don’t hesitate to contact me!
i would love to see the result too if you tried it!

Thank you so much for your reply. It’s a great help. I will share the result when I finish.😀

    Hi,

I would love to make this pillow for my bedroom and am thinking of making it double the length. Would you just double the amount of stiches?

    Thanks

    1. nihal salem

Hiiii! and sorry for my late reponse! ohh wow double the length! can you tell me exactly how long do you want it to be so that i can help you customize it if u didn’t start already

  4. Sarah

The link to the video for seaming the cushion together does not seem to work, can I have the correct link please? Also is there any more detailed instructions for making and attaching the tassels? Thanks

    1. nihal salem

so sorry for the late response i have just put the right link sorry for any inconvenience

  5. Sarah

Is there a way to adapt the pattern to make it possible to remove the cushion for washing?

    1. nihal salem

sure I have included various techniques in other pillow cases patterns you can use buttons like i used in the chillax pattern or zipper like I did in the boblicious pillow case pattern you will find them both on the blog

  6. Katie

Hello! Do you think using a med (4) weight cotton yarn would effect the final outcome much?

    1. Katie

I’ve now made this pillow twice using Bernat Softee Baby cotton (4) and it fit a 14×28 pillow form. It was a tad too long so the second time I made it, I omitted 4 rows of single crochet and it fit perfectly! I love this pattern! It turns out beautifully, and is easy and fun to make. Thanks so much for sharing it!
